Our B.A. Degree requires that students first complete our 12-month Certificate in Bible and Missions program before going on a 16-month overseas Global Internship. This is a pre-requisite to the internship and students cannot transfer into the B.A. program without first completing the certificate.
The reason for this is that college-level courses make up only part of our certificate curriculum; there are also many non-academic requirements (such as practical training and outreach practicum) that are not eligible for credit transfer from other institutions. In addition, students in the certificate program are actively preparing for their internship throughout the year, through directed cell group times, weekly spiritual life teachings and discussion, and weekly practical preparations leading toward living overseas. It is not possible to go on internship without walking through these steps of preparation.
Therefore, even if a few academic courses are accepted in transfer, all students must still enroll in the full 12- month Certificate course as a pre-requisite for the B.A. program. Transferred courses would simply provide some free periods during the normal school week. If you would like to have your previous college work considered for transfer credit, please send course descriptions and transcripts from your previous school to:
Bethany College of Missions
Attn: Lori Beyer
6820 Auto Club Rd, Suite C
Bloomington, MN 55438
Please mark on your application and include a note with the transcripts that you would like your college coursework to be considered for credit transfer.
Keep in mind that even if you might be repeating some coursework during the course of our B.A. program, you will be receiving it in the context of a missions-focused environment, and in the greater context of training which emphasizes not only classroom learning, but also mentoring, worship and prayer, practical skill-building, and outreach into the community.
So, you will find that the holistic nature of our training will make application of what you are learning dynamic, even if you have a week here and there that is a review for you.
