
Below are the listings of our different scholarships offered, as well as our discounts. Please read the guidelines prior to looking at the discounts or scholarships individually.
Scholarships are awarded above and beyond the discounts available to students through the college and are available for the first year of enrollment.
• Scholarship awards are determined by the Admissions Office.
• To apply for a scholarship, please fill out the Scholarship Application form, unless otherwise note, and return it by:
December 10 for January 2008 enrollment
August 11 for August 2008 enrollment
• Scholarships are only available if you enroll in 2008. If you defer enrollment to 2009 you will need to submit a new application to avail of any scholarships offered at that time.
• Scholarship awards are distributed according to the payment plan you choose:
Payment Plan 1 – the award is deducted from the total advance payment
Payment Plan 2 – the award is divided evenly over the 3 terms; the amount owed by the student each term is adjusted to reflect the scholarship award
Payment Plan 3 – the award is divided evenly over 12 months. The total down-payment due upon enrollment is adjusted to reflect 2 months of the 12. The remaining 10 monthly payments are adjusted to reflect the remaining 10 months of scholarship awarded.
• Applicants accepted as Honor Academy Graduate Interns are not eligible for these scholarships.
Director’s Merit Scholarship – $600 (automatically awarded to students meeting the eligibility criteria; no application form required)
Number Awarded: up to one per student
Eligibility – student must meet 2 of the three criteria below:
• GPA
A minimum 3.5 CGPA in high school if the student has attended 0 -15 credit hours of college
or
a minimum 3.3 CGPA in the most recent college program if the student has taken 16 or more college credits (in this case the student’s high school transcript
would not be eligible)
• Composite ACT score of 27 or higher or total SAT score of 1210 or higher
• Class rank: top 25%
Church Matching Scholarship – up to $600
Number Awarded: up to one per student
Eligibility
• Student must have a written pledge of support submitted (up to $500) from their church, (a template is included with the scholarship application form)
Excellence in Christian Ministry Scholarship - $600
Number Awarded: up to 5 students per term
Eligibility
• Student must submit a 2 page essay addressing the topic: “Encountering God through serving in ministry”
• Student must have a letter of recommendation submitted from an individual who has served in a leadership role with the student in Christian ministry (this may be someone who has already submitted a reference during the application process)
• This scholarship is focused on local Christian ministry, not ministry abroad.
Excellence in Ministry Abroad Scholarship - $600
Number Awarded: up to 5 students per term
Eligibility
• Student must submit a 2 page essay addressing the topic: “How God used ministry abroad to change my life.”
• Student must have a letter of recommendation submitted from an individual who has served in a leadership role with the student in ministry abroad (this may be someone who has already submitted a reference during the application process)
• This scholarship is focused on ministry abroad, not local Christian ministry.
Need-based Scholarship – up to $1,000
Number Awarded: up to one per student
Eligibility
• Student must demonstrate significant financial need, as indicated in the scholarship application form
If you would like to fill out a scholarship form, you can begin the process of applying for BCOM.
• The maximum discount available for any student is $1,000
• To apply for a discount, please fill out the Discount Application Form and return it to the Admissions Office by the application deadline. No applications for discounts will be considered after the final application deadline for a given term.
• Discounts are only available in 2008. If you defer enrollment to 2009 you will need to submit a new application to avail of any discounts offered at that time.
• Discount awards are divided evenly over the first 3 terms of enrollment.
• Applicants accepted as Honor Academy Graduate Interns are not eligible for these discounts.
Buddy discount - $250 per term per buddy ($750 total per person)
Eligibility-You and your friend must both be enrolled at Bethany during the same term to avail of the discount. Married couples do not count as “Buddies”– sorry!
Child (age 22 and younger) of a current Bethany associate or an associate yourself, with a tenure of:
1 - 2 years - $200 per term ($600 total)
2 - 5 years - $250 per term ($750 total)
5 years plus - $300 per term ($900 total)
Child (age 22 and younger) of a pastor, missionary, or BCOM alumnus-$200 per term ($600 total)
Eligibility - You qualify if one of your parents has served with one Christian organization/church for a minimum of 30 hours per week for a minimum of one year within the past 2 years; or if one of your parents is a BCOM alumnus.
Full-time pastor or missionary-$200 per term ($600 total)
Eligibility-You qualify if you have served with one Christian organization/church for a minimum of 30 hours per week for a minimum of one year within the past 2 years.
Home school graduate-$200 per term ($600 total)
Eligibility-You qualify if you completed your senior year of high school as a home schooler.
Referral or graduate from a partner organizations-$200 per term ($600 total)
Eligibility-You qualify if an organization on the following list referred you to come to BCOM, or if you completed a discipleship program in the following list:
